Travertino

Section Title

Travertine is classified as a limestone, not marble.
It can also be polished to a smooth finish and comes in a variety of colours. Its appearance is less shiny and high contrast than high polished Marmorino, offering a more even look.

Travertino allows for split stone effects, creating walls with plenty of character like in its natural form. It can be finish with Bee's wax or polyurethane sealer suitable for wet areas.

The Romans mined deposits of travertine for building temples, monuments and amphitheaters such as the Colosseum, the largest building in the world constructed mostly of travertine.

Travertine is found at Tivoli, 25 kilometers east of Rome, where it has been quarried for at least two thousand years.

However, Travertine is found in hundreds of locations around the world.
